There is something intangible about the mountains that is good for the soul. There is an energy, an inner feeling they create which literally feels like a breath of fresh air. Given they are virtually on the doorstep of the bussling hub of Sydney it’s staggering just how different they are to that environment. From the glorious and expansive views, to the stunning starry skyscape at night, to the variety of artistic creations available this really is an escape from the rat race, from the traffic and best of all from the stress.
The beauty of it though, is a combination of all the above together with the elements of sophistication we have come to enjoy in Sydney. Elements such as good coffee, excellent restaurants, beautifully merchandised stores and delis abundant with local produce, that have become almost a requirement for most to enjoy the area are now entirely catered for, in fact in someways more so than in the city.
Joys for me include the retail therapy in Leura Village, the delis delights at “This Little Piggy Wiggy” in Blackheath and the quirkiness of the decor at The Avalon Restaurant in Katoomba. When you stay at Lavender Majestic in Katoomba you can walk to Avalon Restaurant which means enjoying a number of their delightful cocktails becomes an attainable pleasure.
If you stay at Lavender Manor in Blackheath This Little Piggy Wiggy is but a 5 minute drive away so you can gather goodies to create a delectable platter to enjoy with a glass of red in front of the fire.
Each of our properties in the Blue Mountains enjoy a warm fire for cooler weather which often occurs here in the mountains and can be a refreshing change from the closeness of Sydney. Again the mountains are so close to Sydney and yet the dramatic change in weather that can occur can make you feel as if you’ve escaped to a far off land within 2 hours of driving there.
So don’t be one of those people that lives on the precipice of this amazing part of the world yet never gets there. Plan your next escape to this glorious piece of World Heritage and explore its beauty. Check out our different packages and see which one would suit you best and retreat to another world….
Go on, you deserve it
There is something magical about snow. When it snows in the Blue Mountains its even more magical.
Snow brings out the child in all of us, what happens when you see snow out the window ? You smile….right ? Then you contemplate going out to feel, enjoy and hear the crunch of the snow on your feet, and finally, many of us cannot resist the temptation to have a snowball fight or build a snowman – it brings a natural innocent joy to all of us. Sure its cold, yet it’s warming to the heart.
When you wake up in the morning and it’s snowed overnight it brings a natural feeling of glee. Everything is so quiet, so white, so pretty. Perhaps it’s the rarity of seeing it, perhaps it’s an association with Santa – even though our Santa has to fight the heat to get here ! Whatever it is, it’s special and we love it.
We posted a couple of photos on Facebook of the snow at Lavender Majestic last night and it brought much happiness to those that saw it, we got so many likes and comments – snow makes people excited, it gets them to engage with each other, it’s “happy thoughts” provoking and it’s something we all seem to love. The girls staying at the houses this weekend were super happy – after all, their weekend in the Blue Mountains became even more special. The lovely girls staying at Lavender Manor sent us this photo of the garden at Lavender Manor.
So come on up and stay with us, possibly enjoy the magic of snow but we guarantee you’ll enjoy the magic of the Blue Mountains whatever the weather. Life is about experiencing joy – make sure you don’t deny yourself of it.

Go on you deserve a little joy 🙂
So here’s a little something for you girls to take just a little time out of for you to appreciate – 4.25 minutes to be precise.
Those lucky enough to live in the magnificent city of Sydney in the amazing country of Australia have this incredible landscape literally on their doorstep and yet sometimes I think we need to remind ourselves it’s there. The Blue Mountains not only look good, they feel good too, it’s a tangible energy. Just escaping to them, for however shorter time you can manage, can revitalise and refresh you.
So here’s a break to the beautiful mountains for just 4.25minutes thanks to the magnificent work of Konstantin Basov. Pop your headphones on and get lost in the music, pump it up to full screen and use it as a meditation to break up your day.

Are you a coffee lover ?
Do you hang out for that morning ceremony of sipping your daily life blood through a slightly sweetened topped with chocolate foam ?
Are you guilty of this ?
For me coffee is as much about the social aspect as the liquid itself. Having said that when I go overseas I desperately miss the quality of the fabulous coffee we are spoilt with here in Australia. In the UK they push a button to make your coffee, in the US – don’t get me started…it’s only in Italy that we truly meet our match, in fact it was Venice
that finally convinced me that tea was not the only way … 15 years ago there, I had my first coffee and have been addicted ever since – interestingly not entirely to the actual taste, it took me a while to come around to that, but to the ceremony and yes of course the effect ! A coffee is like a symbol of the start of my working day, it’s also something I share with my friends, something that goes with good conversation and laughter, something that gives me an excuse to see my girlfriends.
Over the last 10 years or so, the abundance of coffee venue choices in the Blue Mountains has done nothing but increase – from the comfort of a bowl of coffee at Red Door in Leura
to a rich smooth coffee at Elephant Bean in Katoomba or a delicious break at Anonymous Cafe in Blackheath
(where Lavender Manor is) the venues are varied and delicious. So, when you book your Girls Getaway with us don’t worry your coffee addiction will be fed well. Even breakfast at Lavender Majestic is created grinding the beans at the point of service for each and every coffee, which is just another thing that makes our guests smile.
And that is what we are all about – making you smile. So today, whilst you plan your Girls Getaway with the girls over a really good coffee, make sure you smile, even better take photos of you all with cappuccino foam moustaches and post on Facebook to post to your other friends that couldn’t make it to coffee – 1. to make them smile and 2. to make them realise they need to make time for coffee with their girlfriends. Selfies have got too serious girls let’s make them silly again !
Looking forward to making you smile again soon….but for now let us know what’s your favourite coffee venue in the Blue Mountains and can you guess where this one is below ???

Welcome to our Blog.
What does that mean I wonder – “Blog” ?
Who came up with that name ? Aah well, clearly I am already showing my well over 40 age group !
So girls, what is the TOFY Blog about ? Well its written by me but its actually all about YOU. You see many of us girls are in the same boat – this equality lark thing is all very well, but it keeps us juggling an awful lot of balls in the air most of the time ! From breastfeeding whilst making a sales call to agreeing to babysit the grandchildren whilst still working because life isn’t getting any cheaper – no matter our age, background, lifestyle, where we live, single, married, divorced, we all actually face many of the same issues (said with a very strong emphasis on the ssss’s like in Kath and Kim). And the focus tends to shift away from YOU most of the time. This blog is designed to have a little giggle, at times be incredibly shallow (you know shoes, chocolate and champers darling) but most of all give you some time for YOU, tips on how to look after yourself for a change rather than all those others in your world. From a 5 minute break to a whole week away we want you to get the most out of life, to enjoy it, to smile and to be strong in times of challenge.
It’s a whole new world for me – so hopefully I’ll get it right. I’m an appalling snob so bound to offend at some stage but hey I’m over 45 I’ve got wrinkles, cellulite, I keep spotting new saggy bits in the mirror and whilst I love my heels they are a short term prospect these days. I love cars, boats, well anything with an engine really, which is a real juxtaposition to my love of all things really girley – frilly clothes, lipstick, shoes, handbags, magazines and speciality teas, not to mention a good glass of red. I also have teenagers – which means I used to have babies and toddlers, I have parents and relos, amazing girlfriends, I love to travel, eat (hence the cellulite), cook, and best of all I love what I do – spoiling other girls. So with all of that I’m hoping to connect with most of you most of the time – sometimes I won’t, sometimes I will – you can decide which ones you read and which you don’t ! But be gentle with me – I am one of those “I like people to like me” types that takes things to heart….(although aren’t we all ?)
There will be recipes, time out tips, travel blogs, cafe reviews, ridiculous shallow conversations and maybe even the odd interview with women I admire – who knows what the future holds – we can evolve together !
I’d like to make you smile every time you read it – it is after all your greatest accessory and a lot cheaper than Tiffany daaarling….are you smiling ? Go on smile, smile, are you smiling yet ? Even if you feel terrible make yourself smile – fake it till you make it they say – smiling actually sends messages to the brain that make you feel better and so suddenly you do – are you smiling yet ? Yes ? You’re smiling ?There you are – see how much more gorgeous you are when you do that ????
So….here we go……see you at the first TOFY blog girls !
Hope you enjoy it. 🙂
